Kombu is a large-leafed brown seaweed and the most widely consumed seaweed in the world. In Germany, kombu is legally classified as a bath additive because of the very high iodine content of the entire package.
Used in moderation, it makes an incredibly delicious broth that enhances almost any dish. Kombu seaweed is also excellent in combination with miso soup as a vegan version of dashi.
Known for its umami flavor, savory and rounded taste.
Important note: In Germany, it is labeled as a bath additive due to its high iodine content. Approved as a food additive in Spain, Portugal, France, Denmark, and many other countries! Please note: the label is in English.
